Biography : Yoga

Kristen began her relationship with the art and science of yoga at the age of 20.  She completed her 500-hour Ashtanga teacher training, along with 5 years of tutelage and assisting, with Ron Reid of Downward Dog in Toronto, Canada.   Since then, her devotion to this practice has led her to study all over the world with many inspiring teachers, such as Eddie Modestini and Nicki Doane (Maya Yoga), Chuck Miller and Maty Ezraty (Ashtanga and Iyengar), Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (Ashtanga), Matthew Sweeney (Ashtanga), John Scott (Ashtanga) and Aadil Palkivalha (Purna Yoga).

Kristen has been teaching for over 12 years, and infuses her vigorous vinyasa yoga classes with Tantric philosophy, music, humour and play.  As a student pursuing her Masters in Occupational Therapy, she integrates detailed anatomical and functional knowledge into her perspective on humanity.  She has  also been specializing lately with using reggae and hip hop soundtracks for some of her classes.  Her latest avenue of exploration is to create yoga programs for stroke survivors.  She considers yoga to be the greatest love of her life.

Kristen is now ecstatic to be residing again in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island!
